국제소아신경외과학회 서울유치

2010년 대회장에 서울의대 왕규창 교수

최근 캐나다 밴쿠버 웨스틴 베이쇼어 리조트 (Westin Bayshore Resort)에서 열린 제33차 국제소아신경외과학회 학술대회 및 총회에서 연세의대 최중언 교수가 신임회장으로 취임했다. 임기는 1년.

한편 대한소아신경외과학회(회장 계명의대 김동원 교수)는 오는 2010년 열리는 제38차 국제소아신경외과학회 학술대회 및 총회를 국내(제주도) 유치하는데 성공했다. 대회장을 맡게될 서울의대 왕규창 교수는 이번에 새로 이사진에 참여했다.

특히 이번 학술대회에서는 가톨릭의대 강석구 교수가 우수한 젊은 소아신경외과 의사에게 수여하는 "Raimondi 상"을 수상해 우리나라 소아신경외과의 위상을 높였다.

강석구 교수의 논문 제목은 "Cytotoxicity of rat marrow stromal cells against malignant glioma cells"로 同 학회의 공식학술지인 Child"s Nervous System 올해 7월호에 게재된 바 있다.

이 연구는 쥐의 골수에서 줄기세포를 추출해 cytokine과 함께 쥐 뇌종양 세포주를 함께 배양한 결과, 줄기세포가 면역세포로 분화되며 뇌종양 세포를 공격해 이를 사멸시키는 역할을 함을 보여준 것으로, 향후 줄기세포를 이용한 뇌종양치료법 개발에 기여할 것으로 기대되고 있다.
